Brooklyn Pet Sitting For reviews of our sitters, please click on our Testimonials page. Meet our Lead pet sitter in Brooklyn
Aside from working with animals, I have been a life-long pet owner and lover. Currently, my husband and I share our home with our three wonderful cats. I have learned a great deal from my relationship to them, as well as from their relationships to one another. I have extensive experience in feeding (dry, canned and raw), administering medication in both liquid and pill form, grooming, and playing. I am currently a Master’s candidate at the New School University. In addition to working for Katie’s Kitty, I make cat-related crafts for my online boutique, which you'll find at my Etsy store, Cat Friends. My past experiences have instilled in me a sense of responsibility when caring for client’s pets, and a deep respect for each pet on an individual basis. While you are away, I will treat your pets as though they were one of my own!
While we offer cat boarding services to Brooklyn residents, we've found that, for the majority of our Brooklyn clients, cat sitting is their most pressing need. We offer the following thoughts in an effort to make your search for a sitter and/or boarder as easy as possible. If, at any point during the process of reviewing our pages you have questions that you would like answered, please feel free to call us directly at (212) 288-5712. When it comes to sitting versus boarding, you'll find a variety of articles on this website to help you make a decision as to which option is best for you. We'd also encourage you to click on the "Pet Sitting Tips" and "Pet Boarding Tips" tabs on our sister website, Peter's Pets (www.peterspets.com). One of the advantages of hiring a cat sitter (as opposed to boarding your pet at someone else's home) is that your cat doesn't have to leave an environment with which s/he is familiar and comfortable (it does little good to put a cat in a new environment for a week if s/he will spend most of that time hiding in the closet). While we have specific standards and guidelines particular to Katie's Kitty, each sitter is, of course, an individual and will therefore have a different approach to sitting. Remember, when you hire a cat sitter, you are inviting someone to come into your home. It is therefore of utmost importance - for you and your cat - that you feel good about the person. If you want a clear indication of the quality of a sitter's work, it is best to ask for two references of individuals who have used his/her services and can share their experience with you. Some helpful facts to keep in mind with regard to cat sitting (homecare) visits:
If you are pleased with the services provided by the sitter that you hire through us for the first time (and most people are), we would encourage you to build a relationship with that person. You will find that our sitters are open and receptive to building long-term relationships with their clients. Aside from the obvious practical benefits of doing so (e.g., having a sitter available on little or virtually no notice), there's a wonderful side benefit: your cat starts to remember the sitter as a regular visitor. Katie's Kitty of Brooklyn also offers a unique and incomparable boarding service in a variety of loving "host family homes" all across Brooklyn. We are dedicated to the happiness and well being of cats and dogs. Katie's Kitty will make special arrangements for your pet that far surpass what's offered in a traditional Brooklyn kennel. Every home is available to be seen by appointment before you make your decision. For the purpose of putting you at ease, we invite you to bring your pet to one of our homes for a free "play date" so that you, your pet and the sitter can become acquainted before arrangements are finalized. Most of the host homes that serve Katie's Kitty only board one animal at a time. This greatly increases the amount of personalized attention that your pet will receive. In some instances, the boarder may have a pet of his or her own (in which case, that would be disclosed to you beforehand). Although your cat may initially be afraid and go into hiding, unlike a kennel environment, s/he will be dealing with only one person. And if that person is truly a cat lover (cats can tell), your feline companion will warm up to the new caregiver within a period of a few days. In either case – sitting or boarding – be sure to let the person who will be caring for your pet know your pet's likes and dislikes. Similarly, let him/her know if there are any "special" needs (particularly the medical needs of older animals) and give very specific instructions as to how to meet those needs. Important: Most animal caregivers are not veterinary professionals and it is therefore prudent that medical information and related directions are reviewed in great detail for the benefit of all involved. We offer cat sitting, dog sitting and private home pet boarding in most areas of Brooklyn, including:
